My top ten favorite summer trends 2012

One of my many hobbies is to figure out the top trends of the up and coming season and then narrow it down to my top ten favorites. I then go on a hunt for a bargain. A big misconception about being in style is that it means you have to be a size zero and spend a lot of money. Not true, and not true! Our culture needs to learn to love their bodies and strive to be fit, not skinny, there's a difference. As for the other misconception, stores like Tj Maxx are great places to shop for trendy deals. Another great place to look is in your closet. You can mix up your clothes to make different outfits, or just add a simple new accessory.

 #1-AQUATICS making a intriguing splash in fashion. I love the corals and gorgeous shades of blue emerging, add a splash of lime green or yellow for a tropical twist. I bumped this from the bottom of my list to number one. The more and more I looked at it the more i fell in love. (Might have to do with the fact that I just moved back to the main land from Hawaii)

 #2- All aboard for the NAUTICAL fashion look this summer. This is one of my all time favorite looks for this season! I will probably wear this even when it goes out of style. Nothing says summer like red, white, and blue!

 #3- Lounge around in a MAXI DRESS. This comes at the top of on my list for its comfort and style! It's flattering and elegant. Looks great with a trendy jean jacket or cardigan.

*Tip- Add some chunky jewelry for a more glam look. 

#4- Get noticed with this fun COLOR BLOCKING trend. The main idea behind color blocking is combining colors that both complement and support each other. When you look at the color wheel, complementary colors are directly opposite each other.

*Tip- Keep accessories simple.

#5- Make a bold statement with TRIBAL PRINTS. An amazing way to wear this trend is to accessorize a simple outfit with tribal inspired jewelry, clutches, bags, and shoes.

*Tip- It's okay to clash different tribal prints. Just keep it in the same color scheme. 

#6- LACE is this summers star, and is omnipresent this season. Now seen on more than just lingerie. It's now seen on clothing, shoes, hand bags, clutches, etc..

*Put back into fashion this year by Kate Middleton.

#7- Game on... SPORTS WEAR is huge for the new season. This trend is perfect for athletes, like myself, that still want to look gorgeous while being a jock.

*Tip- This is a great way to try out your color blocking with your favorite team and complimentary colored jeans.

#8- Refresh your wardrobe with sugary shades of PASTELS. One of this seasons biggest trend's are pastel jeans. The number one color this spring/summer is mint green. 

*Tip- If you're like me and like a more fierce than feminine look, pair it with a leather jacket to give it more edge. 

 #9- Summer wouldn't be summer without FLORAL print. I especially love floral jeans with a white tee, and jean jacket to go with it. Also very popular prints are birds, deer, fruit, and feathers. Think whimsical.

*Tip- Always remember that less is more when it comes to print.

#10- VINTAGE 50'S! American prep school style; with retro dresses, cardigans, cat eyed sunglasses, crop tops, and high waist disco trousers that scream out 'Sandy!' 

*My favorite retro trend is the swimwear! I love it,
 love it, love it!
